Auckland: Northwestern Bus Improvements

The Northwestern Bus Improvements Project is a joint Auckland Transport (AT) and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency initiative to deliver a programme of bus service improvements over the next five years to support growth in Auckland’s North-West.

Subcontracting to WSP New Zealand, throughout 2021, cOlab have provided Service User Experience Design and Master Planning / Site Planning advice for the construction of two new Bus Interchange locations - at the Te Atatu Road and Lincoln Road access points to the Northwestern Motorway.

We’ve used internationally-recognised transit service design approaches to ensure transfers between bus services for passengers at each interchange, are as seamless as possible and that each interchange will produce increased bus service use in the North-West from Day One of service launch in 2023.

Throughout 2022, the team at cOlab will continue our work with WSP NZ in the North-West - on the design of a new Bus Station at Westgate.
